2001 Cyhawk, Steve Mocco, Iowa vs Mark Knauer, Iowa State Heavyweight wrestling dual

Iowa State heavyweight Mark Knauer had a game plan to show that he was not going to be intimidated by Steve Mocco, one of the most highly-touted true freshmen in recent history. Knauer began the match by shoving Mocco and then delivering a hard slap to the head. Mocco struck back with a takedown, but after Knauer earned an escape, he continued his aggressiveness. But Mocco, who had a distinct size advantage of nearly 50 pounds heading into the match, began to wear Knauer down, scoring another takedown in the second period to extend his lead to 5-2. In the third period, Mocco sealed a victory with another takedown off of a Knauer shot. The 9-4 Mocco win once again tied the dual meet at 12-12.
