A two-time All-American and NCAA Division I wrestling champion at Arizona State University, Severn first made his mark on the world stage as a U.S. Olympic Trials competitor and international Greco-Roman wrestler before stepping into the Ultimate Fighting Championship in 1994. His arrival brought legitimacy to wrestling as one of MMA’s most effective base disciplines. Severn debuted at UFC 4 in December 1994, immediately showcasing his raw grappling power. He submitted Anthony Macias and Marcus Bossett before meeting Royce Gracie in the finals.
