How to Throw a Left Push Kick (Teep) | Muay Thai Fundamentals

Wrestling

The left push kick, commonly known as the lead teep, is a fundamental Muay Thai technique used to control distance and manage forward pressure. Similar in purpose to a jab, the strike uses the lead foot to intercept an advancing opponent and maintain positional advantage. Effective execution requires lifting the lead knee while maintaining upright balance, then extending the leg forward with controlled hip thrust. Power and stability are generated by pushing from the rear foot while keeping the guard active for defensive protection. The technique can function both defensively to create space and offensively to disrupt rhythm and balance. In this lesson, Kru Jack demonstrates the correct mechanics, timing, and structural positioning for an effective left teep.
