Having won 5 world jiu-jitsu tournaments and 4 times the ADCC (two of the most important tournaments in jiu-jitsu), Garcia is widely considered one of the best grapplers in the world, while his general demeanor made him one of the most beloved athletes by the BJJ community. Marcelo Garcia has also been featured in BJJHeroes top 10 Best Grapplers of All Time list. Edson Diniz is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Rogério Poggio, who worked extensively with coaches Pitoco Jordan, Jorge Pereira, and Ricardo Libório while representing the InFight and American Top Team academies in both grappling and mixed martial arts (MMA). Diniz was widely regarded as one of the top jiu-jitsu athletes during the late 1990s / early 2000s era, a reputation earned with medals in the top tournaments of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF).
