Slay the Spire 2 Review: A Relentlessly Faithful Sequel

Slay the Spire 2 is here, having launched into early access in March 2026. Slay the Spire 2 is a strikingly faithful sequel to Slay the Spire, almost nine years after it released. Slay the Spire 2 is a roguelike (roguelite?), deckbuilding strategy game with immense replay-ability. Debuting with five characters or classes - a mixture of old ones returning from the original game with some new mechanics & cards, and new classes that are already proving to be very popular choices. Likely because they are novel, and well-designed. In this early access review of Slay the Spire 2 I'll cover off what's old, what's new, what's heavily borrowed from the original, and what's got me feeling a little blue.
