Born in Baguio City and proudly representing her Igorot roots, Bomogao was once a quiet child who avoided confrontation. She entered combat sports in 2016, experimenting with wushu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and pencak silat before discovering her true talent in Muay Thai. Her rapid rise eventually earned her a place on the Philippine National Muay Thai Team, and in 2023 she made history as the first Filipina to win an IFMA Senior Muay Thai World Championship. After turning professional in 2024, Bomogao quickly became a fan favorite with her traditional Wai Kru, infectious smile, and fearless fighting style. She has now won all five of her fights in ONE, including three victories by knockout, proving that her friendly appearance hides a truly dangerous competitor. Her latest performance against Klinphaka Por Thaisong showed both her composure and resilience. After facing problems early in the contest, Bomogao remained patient, adjusted her approach, and ended the fight with a perfectly timed right hand just 13 seconds into the third round. The victory secured her a US$100,000 contract and a place on ONE’s main global roster. Still only 25 years old, Islay Erika Bomogao is undefeated, rapidly improving, and chasing an even bigger dream — becoming the first Filipina women’s atomweight Muay Thai World Champion in ONE.
