He is a world champion in two weight classes, having held the World Boxing Association (WBA) Flyweight title twice between 1981 and 1985, and the World Boxing Council (WBC) Super-Flyweight title in 1987. Laciar first won his world title when he defeated Peter Mathebula by TKO in the 7th round to become WBA Flyweight champion, he lost to Luis Ibarra in his first defence before winning it back and becoming one of the greatest Flyweights of his era. After the retirement of Carlos Monzón in 1977 and Victor Galindez in 1978, (Galindez died in 1980 in an auto race accident), Argentina was in need of a world champion boxer, and Laciar became a national hero instantly. In his 2nd reign, Laciar defended his title 9 times before moving up to Super Flyweight and beating Gilberto Roman for the WBC crown. He eventually retired with an excellent record of 79-10-11 (31 KO's). Song: Jace D.
