Seeing Akiyama, the man known as Sexy-yama, who I’d most recently seen compete on Netflix Gameshow “100”, in which my Mrs was most disappointed to watch Akiyama go out after failing to push a boulder up a hill, stood there in his boxing boots and a pair of 4oz gloves, hearing referee Olivier cost announce the rule set of 1 round boxing, 1 round of muay thai, and 1 round of mma, I was concerned. Did I ever believe Akiyama would make it through the opening round? No, no I didn’t. Yet alone make it through the even more increased difficulty of Muay Thai, permitting kicks, knees and elbows, in the following round before Akiyama was allowed to go to his safe place of grappling, which he attempted in the boxing round anyway by shooting a double leg on Nieky in an attempt to survive.
