From his controversial debut as the new face of Street Fighter 3 to his transformation into a full-fledged heel wrestler in Street Fighter 6, Alex has undergone one of the most dramatic evolutions in the SF series’ history. Street Fighter 6 pushes Alex further into professional wrestling than ever before. His darker appearance, aggressive animations and arrogant personality all reflect the role of a heel wrestler. We examine the wrestling influences behind Alex’s redesign, from his original roots in Hulk Hogan to the similarities between his new persona and legendary heels such as Hollywood Hogan and Edge. Even details such as his face paint and crowd interactions reveal just how heavily Capcom leaned into wrestling culture when reinventing the character. Alex’s gameplay is equally rooted in Pro Wrestling. Capcom has incorporated real techniques from competitive wrestling directly into his animations and mechanics, transforming Alex into a stance-based fighter built around movement, pressure and grappling. His new Prowler Stance draws inspiration from the Shooting Stance used by wrestlers, while details such as level changes, penetration steps and stance discipline reflect authentic wrestling fundamentals rarely represented in fighting games. Rather than simply giving Alex wrestling-themed attacks, Street Fighter 6 captures the way wrestlers move, position themselves and create opportunities during a match. We also explore how professional wrestling psychology influences Alex’s character. From his crowd work and taunts to his interactions with Zangief, many of Alex’s animations mirror the relationship between wrestlers and their audience.
