This is when The Miz held the Intercontinental Title for 188 days. In April 2016, Miz beat Zack Ryder to win the title. There was a rematch on Smackdown. Maryse took off the turnbuckle pad, the ref was distracted, Miz went for Ryder’s eyes and hit him with the Skull Crushing Finale to retain the title. A month later at Payback, Miz faced Cesaro. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn started brawling when Miz tapped out. Then Cesaro pushed them off and Miz rolled him up to retain the title. Three weeks later at Extreme Rules, Miz, Kevin, Cesaro and Sami met for the title. Sami hit Cesaro with the Helluva Kick, Kevin dragged him outside and Miz pinned Cesaro to retain the title. On Smackdown, Miz faced Cesaro. Miz took the title, Cesaro stopped him from leaving, threw him inside the ring, caught him with a crossbody and he kicked out. The ref put the title away, Cesaro went into the exposed turnbuckle and Miz hit him with the Skull Crushing Finale to retain the title. A month later, Miz faced Kane. Maryse injured her ankle, Miz took her backstage and got counted out. A month later at Battleground, Miz faced Darren Young. Miz pushed Bob Backlund, Young caught Miz from behind and the match ended in a no contest. A month later at Summerslam, Miz faced Apollo Crews. Miz hit Apollo with the Skull Crushing Finale to retain the title. A month later at Backlash, Miz faced Dolph Ziggler. Miz distracted the ref, Maryse sprayed Dolph’s eyes and Miz hit him with the Skull Crushing Finale to retain the title. They had a rematch a week later. Miz took the title, Dolph stopped him from leaving, threw him into the steel steps and inside the ring. The ref went after the title, Miz sprayed Dolph’s eyes and hit him with the Skull Crushing Finale to retain the title. Two weeks later at No Mercy, they had another rematch with Dolph’s career on the line. Miz was arguing with the ref and Dolph superkicked him to win the title.
