One of the books we probably remember most from our childhood is Alexander And The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. I never owned a copy of it, but I remember that book being read to me a few times when I was in Elementary School. I even remember teachers asking us a couple of times of what Alexander could do to get over his bad day? I mean looking at the book and the way we remember it, and seeing the reviews online it seems like a lot of people like the book. However I did see some negative reviews online about the book. Because basically, the whole book from start to finish talk about how bad Alexander's day is going and it seems like the only redemptive quality of the book is when Alexander's mom says, "Everybody has bad days, even in Australia." Some people think of Alexander as being a pessimist and a sourpuss and in most of the pictures we see in the book, he is looking upset. Over 40 years later the book gets adapted into a movie. They often times make film adaptations of books we might remember as a kid, or some kind of games including video games. Often times but not always, those adaptations don't do well as movies. A lot of us probably thought that this movie was just another adaptation of a book we liked when we were kids and would fall under the terrible film category and flop in the cinemas. I saw comments for the trailer on YouTube. Most of the comments were about how they thought you could see the whole movie through the trailer, not wanting a movie being made from one of their favorite books, and also how the movie looked cheesy. I'll tell you, if you do see the trailer on YouTube it will make the movie look cheesy. However, I saw reviews online about this movie and the reviews I saw were positive about how the movie is better than the trailer makes the movie look. I saw the movie on Saturday, and I loved it. I can write about what makes this movie good? Well, for one the movie doesn't seem like you're watching a live action version of the book. The movie seems completely different like it's it's own film. Alexander does not seem like a pessimist in this movie as he might seem like in the book, it's not like we always see images of him looking unhappy like he did in the book. This movie is also pretty funny, and will get you laughing at some scenes so a good comedy. We get to see the performances of Jennifer Garner and Steve Carrell, they did great in the movie as the parents. What also is great about this movie, is there are more morals to the story than the book leaves us with. It shows a family having a bad day which might remind us of when things are rushed at our house and not going well. It tells us to accept bad days to appreciate the good ones and how you can get over the worst days you might have. It also leaves us with the important message of family. So, I'd recommend this movie. If you liked movies like Diary of A Wimpy Kid which was also an adaptation from a kids book that did pretty well, then you should like this. I loved it, and I left the movie theater feeling really good as it isn't just an entertaining movie to watch, but one you'll feel so happy at the end. I give it a 10/10.
